International Readers
All of you outside the USA:
If you're not buying books from Smashwords.com yet, you should be! If you can buy goods over the internet, you can shop at Smashwords. Whether you need the Epub format, Mobi for Kindle, or read on your phone, the options are all there.
My Smashwords author page.
So don't fuss with Amazon only being in a few countries or even the Apple store in in thirty-to-forty. There are no limitations by region at the Smashwords store. Even cooler is that the sample amount is up to the author, so if they want to make 30%, 40%, 50%, or more available to you to check out a book, they can.
So check it out. I think you'll be pleased.

NaNoWriMo is Coming - Do I Take the Challenge Again?
NaNoWriMo approaches in November.
For those that don't know, it's National Novel Writing Month. I've participated since 2008, so of course I'm thinking about it this year, too.
Technically by the "rules" you're supposed to start a brand new story, but that's not on my plate right now. If I do participate in the 50,000 words in 30 days this year, I'll probably rewrite the sequel to The Art of Healing Heroes.
I have a lot of works in progress. Many of us don't know what we're working on until midnight of Nov. 1st.
It'd be hard to sit out, though. I've gotten my 50k in '09, '10', and '11. It's a community thing, a race, a challenge, and it pushes you to put the inner editor aside and just write. Get the words down. Edit later. Some even push for personal goals of 100,000 words in the month or more. Others race to get their 50k in the shortest time, forgoing sleep and daylight. Honestly, my brain is usually fried come December, but I don't regret any of the years I've done it.
But, I don't know. Maybe I'll save myself the stress this year. Maybe last year's horrible November of life makes me pause and consider further than I normally would. My roommate brought home the worst stomach flu I've ever had that kept me in bed for four days, and then had two weeks of vacation that month without prior notice to me and Tech Guy, and Roommate's idea of "vacation" is watching movies 24/7 so I had no peace except when Roommate slept. There's been at least a little bad luck in every November I've done NaNo, so I'm starting to get gun-shy, like in the "Oh dear God what's next?" kinda way.
If you'd like to learn more about NaNoWriMo, visit www.nanowrimo.org If you've done NaNo before, what was your experience?

The Sequel Will Not Be Out Until 2013
A lot of people ask about the next My Once and Future Love book.
Beth and Jacob's conclusion will not be out until next year. I don't know when.
The book isn't finished, yet - partly from my health and partly from having no clear idea of how to go forward. What I do have needs a rewrite. It isn't the right tone. I couldn't write a happy Jacob and Beth when I felt miserable. I've only gotten ideas for fixing it this summer.
I'm sorry for the delay. I never anticipated chronic pain that would trouble me this long. I haven't slept well most of the year because I keep waking up from moving wrong and causing pain. As anyone with sleep deprivation before knows, it's hell on your concentration, mood, energy, etc.
Yes, the book will come. I haven't given up on it or abandoned it. I just don't know when you'll get it.
Thank you for your patience,
Carla

More Content?
Hi, folks.
I'm thinking about what to post, more often, but I'm not sure where to add it. This is my official site as an author, so I don't know how much off-topic stuff I want to put here or you'd like to read here. My back-up site can serve as a more casual place to chat, so...
What do you think? What do you want to see here?

Secret Project is coming along
2 betas have given me their thoughts on where it's at so far and I'm ready to continue revision.
Final cover image is set. I just need to create an Amazon-size one to go with their new guidelines.
A writer-related project in the works is rearranging my 'office' space to give me more room in a happier placement. Includes finally getting bookshelves! I'm most excited about the book space.
I'm contemplating including something nice with the Secret Project story. Don't know quite what, yet, but something.
Still waiting for The Unsuspecting Bride to ship to the online stores. Approval and distribution is backed up and behind, but fingers crossed it'll reach 'shelves' by May.

Sorry I've Been Quiet
Our cat went missing, I've been dealing with joint issues and poor sleep, and Tech Guy is sick with a bad cough and fever, so there hasn't been much done. I'm just trying to not get sick, too.

My Books Will Now Be In Libraries!
Smashwords today announced a distribution agreement with Baker & Taylor, one of the world's largest distributors of physical and digital books.
The agreement will expand distribution for nearly 100,000 Smashwords books to new devices and markets.
There are two components of the agreement. The first is distribution into the Blio online store and e-reading app. The second part of the agreement gains Smashwords authors and publishers distribution into the library market through Baker & Taylor's Axis360 service.
If you're not familiar with Blio, it's an online store (Blio.com) and also a popular e-reading application that has been pre-loaded on over millions of computers and devices. It powers the e-reading experience for laptops, desktops and tablets produced by Dell Computer, HP, Toshiba and T-Mobile, among others. Blio is also available in the Android store.
The agreement will also bring Smashwords ebooks to public libraries that subscribe to Baker & Taylor’s new Axis360 digital media platform. Axis360, which was launched last year, has been deployed by several top public library systems in the U.S. Dozens more libraries are converting to the platform.

Insert Exciting Post Title Here
I'm sorry I don't have news you guys would want to hear.
Those of you newer to my sites may not know I've been dealing with a chronic injury for months. For those that do know about my arm, I'm sad to say it still isn't well enough to be back to work.
My shoulder makes it hard to find a comfortable position to sleep, my hand and wrist hurt to use my mouse or keyboard, and it's hard just to hold a full mug of tea or a pen. Of course all this is in my dominant arm, so I'm pretty much useless.
So, I don't know when the sequel to My Once and Future Love is coming. I have all kinds of thoughts for revising what's done so far that I can't put on a page, so believe me, I'm frustrated.
Anyway, I hadn't done an update in a while, so I wanted to get your guys up to speed. In the meantime, I hope you can enjoy reading The Unsuspecting Bride (which was written before my injury).
Thanks,

What I Don't Like
What do I not like? Seeing search hits like this:
Any book of mine downloaded from Mediafire or anywhere like it is stolen, my friends. Stolen.
Not okay. Period.
It's called e-book piracy, and I know I can't stop all of it or prevent it, but please.....getting a book free from a download site is NOT like visiting a library and borrowing a book for free. You're stealing money out of the author's pocket every. single. time.
So don't do it. Tell your friends not to do it.
The vast majority of authors are not like Stephen King, J.K. Rowling, or Stephanie Meyer. We're not rich at all. Most of us don't even make a living wage off our writing alone, so when you steal books, it hurts us. Enough people do it, it hurts a lot.
Do your part to fight against media piracy.

January 2012
When did that happen? Doesn't feel like a year has passed since I went public as a writer. My first stories debuted January 2011.
What's in store for 2012? Finishing and polishing the sequel to My Once and Future Love, of course. Continued posts of The Unsuspecting Bride. More from The Sanctuary War universe. I have lots of plans for that.
I'm grateful for all of you that keep visiting. The support on Facebook and in reviews really means a lot. I hope you'll enjoy what's to come.
